Euro

I’ve had the pleasure of knowing Euro League and Flizz MP Williams for a little over a year now, and even with decent knowledge of their previous musical projects, EuroTrip fully exceeded my expectations. To loosely quote Euro: this is not a mixtape; this is an album. The well-constructed and strung together body of work takes you on a Euro League x Flizz MP Williams induced trip that highlights Euro’s crafty lyrical ability and Flizz’s innovative production skills. EuroTrip gives the listener insight onto the life and outlooks of Euro League as it takes you on an honest journey that transitions from his current state in life and stance in hip-hop, to guilty pleasures, to his desire for a wider audience and improved lifestyle, to his devotion to sparking change in the actions and minds of the youth and ending with a determined scope that not only forces the listener to acknowledge his talent, but also facilitates their own awareness of their potential in life.

The intro, “Dreaming in NYC”, acknowledges that “in the beginning it is always dark”. This is followed by, “Cradle Me”, where Euro speaks on the absence of his mother and father and asks listeners instead to accept his talent. After this plea for acceptance, Euro League spends the rest of EuroTrip proving why listeners should be taking note. The end of the subsequent track, “EuroTrip”, gives Flizz the chance to showoff his production dexterity as he illustrates the sounds of “the end of the world”. The following track, “P.O.V (Lost in the City)”, happens to be my favorite on the album as Flizz’s beautiful production is coupled with Euro’s poetic rhyming ability. A later track, “Passport Stamped”, possesses an exchange in the last verse between Euro and Doley Bernays that’s of similar quality to the great exchanges Jadakiss and Styles P are so well known for. Another highlight among the many in EuroTrip is the track, “Wake Up”, where Euro goes on a breathtaking lyrical rant for the last half of the song. The bonus song, “Promises”, caps off the great body of work that is EuroTrip.

Here is footage of Euro performing, “Promises” acapella for Kendrick Lamar and Schoolboy Q.

Sunday Morning

speak to my parents. They remind me of the safety net, tell me my sister has a track meet, and not to worry about the issues they deal with on the daily. Impossible to stunt when you acknowledge your privilege.

CORRUPTION AT ITS FINEST.: The New Kind of Racism

simply-war:

Racism never went away, it just developed.

It became smarter and more devious.

And now society has ingrained racism in people’s brains for generations.

It has been ingrained to such an extent that most don’t even realize that they are racists.

They believe they are accepting and kind.

When,…
